Pierre Hébert floods us with images that question the media cult.

His TV, his dog Leonard and his books are all Mr Michel needs to make his daily life comfortable. But this comfort is nevertheless threatened when he is unwillingly subjected to a flood of images showing him the turmoil of current events and besetting him with nightmarish visions as he tries to make sense of it all.

La Plante humaine is a key work that is in keeping with the films of Norman McLaren and alludes to the vital link connecting humans to the rest of the world. Mixing techniques of scratching on film and live action, it brilliantly compares reality to the world the media allows us to see.
