Have a Nice Day
Have a Nice Day is a Chinese animated film written and directed by Jian Liu and released in 2017. Nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, it received the Grand Jury Award at the La Roche-sur-Yon International Film Festival.
The story takes place in a small town in the south of China. Xiao Zhang, a mere driver on behalf of a local gangster, steals a bag full of money from his boss, thinking that it will help him to save his relationship with his fiancée. The news of this desperate act spreads very quickly in the dark world of gangsters and other ruthless individuals, who will try to seize the opportunity of getting revenge for a bitter and violent day-to-day life. There is consequently a high-speed car chase throughout the night to find Xiao Zhang and the bag of money.
The theme of money sending people crazy is at the heart of this black comedy, which uses a sober and jolting style of animation.
