For the 75th anniversary of animated commercials, the Annecy Festival is taking a close look at some studios who excel in this field: Aardman, founded by two Englishmen, and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, based in Cali. The thing they have in common is that they’ve both been specialising in stop-motion animation since their beginnings.
For 40 years, Aardman has entertained and charmed the world, creating much-loved characters and bringing unforgettable stories to life. They’ve garnered numerous awards that reflect the exceptional talent of the very special people who make up the Aardman team, including the 2006 Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film for Wallace & Gromit: The Case of the Were-Rabbit. The studio’s work is often imitated yet Aardman continues to lead the field with a unique combination of animation wizardry and humour. You could say that they’re regulars at the Annecy Festival.
