This animated musical is a social satire that compares a Hindu legend to the filmmaker's own love story.
For Sita Sings the Blues, Nina Paley created a musical adaptation of the epic Indian poem Ramayana that took home the Cristal for Best Feature Film after being presented at Annecy 2008. The film was made using different animation techniques (drawing on paper, cut-outs, 2D animation and rotoscoping), and is directly linked to the Festival's 2015 theme: Women in Animation.
Let yourself get swept up in this film that combines traditional tragedy with contemporary comedy.
