It took Jamel Debbouze seven years to create this animated feature made entirely with motion capture. The film's main themes reflect his own life: growing up as an outsider, accepting being different, marrying outside his community, rejecting violence, etc.
After analysing this film during a conference in 2014, the Festival invites you to see it outdoors on the big screen.
Plot
Édouard, the eldest son of the Simian king, is rejected by his tribe because he is regarded as being too puny. He grows up far away, in the heart of the jungle where he discovers fire, hunting, modern living, love and even hope. Revolutionising the established order, he helps his kind, with humour and wit, to evolve towards humanity, the kind where you don't eat your father.
