Three youth channels have given young animators the chance to prove themselves through an educational exercise for the 15th year in a row.
In 2002, TiJi, Gulli and CANAL J (youth channels on French TV) launched “Les Espoirs de l’animation”, a competition between students at 6 French animation schools to tackle a commission as practice for when they’re unleashed into the real world.
The students were given a theme, "All for the Planet, One Planet for All!", then encouraged to let their creativity reign while making a short film. Before starting, they all chose which channel they would be working with, and as such, which kind of audience they would be targeting.
The students rose to this challenge and produced 47 one-minute shorts in one month.
The films will be broadcast on the three channels and will be put to a vote by viewers and a professional jury, who will choose the winner.
Come and see the prize-winning film, it will be announced and shown at the 2016 Annecy Festival on 16th June.
