Brazil Frame by Frame – 100 Years of Brazilian Animation

Conceived by the Brazilian Association of Animation Cinema (ABCA), organized in partnership with Klaxon Cultura Audiovisual and the local production of Les Artychauts, and sponsored by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, FSA and BRDE.

This year, Annecy Festival is paying tribute to Brazilian animation. A glimpse of the exhibition Brazil Frame by Frame – 100 Years of Brazilian animation will lead you on the roads travelled by the directors and producers who have contributed to raising the country up to the standards of world animation. In some respects, it is the exhibition's exclusive premiere to which you are invited, since it will be inaugurated in the second half of 2018 in Brazil.

This presentation overseen  by ABCA and its curators (Brazilian Association of Animation Cinema), tells the story of collective movements and takes you from the first Brazilian short film, The Kaiser, directed by Álvaro Marins in 1917, to more contemporary films, such as the feature film The Boy and the World by Alê Abreu, nominated for the 2016 Oscars.

With the responsibility of presenting a group of more than 300 directors who have received awards in Brazil and around the world during the last 100 years, the exhibition highlights what goes on behind the scenes of animation in order to reveal some of its representatives who have influenced the production of animated films.
