Animation film’s history is a constant mixture of artistry and technicity. The animograph, astonishing "machine to create movement" by Jean Dejoux (1922-2015), is no exception to the rule. This device made its mark in French animation’s history, especially thanks to the hit show, the Shadoks, whose first season was produced using Dejoux’s invention. For the release of the documentary L’Animographe, ou Je suis né dans une boîte à chaussures, produced by aaa production and directed by Thierry Dejean, les Musées d’Annecy invites you to take a look back at Jean Dejoux’s extraordinary story and the animograph through works and documents conserved in its collections.
