This year for its 10th consecutive edition, the Disney Art Challenge, a competition created and organised by The Walt Disney Company France in partnership with Art Ludique – Le Musée and the RECA, invited graphic art students from 31 animation schools grouped together in the RECA (French Animation Film School Network) to create concept art on the theme "A little closer to the stars", inspired by the new film Lightyear from Pixar Animation Studios, in cinemas on 22nd June 2022.
The Disney Art Challenge is a unique opportunity for tomorrow’s talents to promote and display the extent of their imagination and creativity. 2,431 students have already participated in this competition that provides a great financial incentive of 17,000 euros to be split between 3 winners and enable them to obtain recognition from major animation artists, professionals, and journalists who are animation experts and enthusiasts. The 2022 edition has 349 participants!
The works will be submitted to be admired by a jury of professionals including Hélène Etzi, President of The Walt Disney Company France, Diane and Jean-Jacques Launier, founders of the Arludik Gallery and the musée Art Ludique, Jean Cayrol, Director and Artistic Director of Xilam, Illustrator Adolie Day and Marc Aguesse, the founder of Catsuka.
This jury will select 10 works to present to Director Angus MacLane, President of this 10th edition, who will choose the 3 winners.
The prize giving ceremony will take place during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the 3 finalists will be presented their prizes by Angus MacLane himself.
