Jérémy Clapin graduated from the Paris Arts-Déco. In addition to working as a graphic designer and illustrator, he has directed short animation films that have steadily moved him centre stage of the contemporary animation scene. Among these films are Backbone Tale in 2004, Skhizein in 2008, which achieved overwhelming success winning over 90 awards in festivals such as Cannes, Annecy and Clermont, as well as Palmiperadium in 2012, produced by Papy3D productions, a company where he subsequently became a partner.
In 2019, he directed his first animated feature film called I Lost My Body, produced by Xilam. This film became the first animation feature film ever in the history of cinema to win the Critics’ Week Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. He has enjoyed an outstanding career by winning the Audience Award/Première and the Cristal for a Feature Film at the Annecy Festival, as well as multiple awards from major critics in the USA. In addition, the film received three Annie Awards, an Oscar nomination and two Césars in 2020. In 2023, he changed tack to live-action shooting to direct his second feature film, Pendant ce temps sur Terre produced by One World Films.
Dan Levy is an award-winning French multi-instrumentalist, artist and composer. Originally a soundtrack composer, in 2008 he founded French indie band The Dø with Olivia Merilahti. Their first album, A Mouthful, was a big hit with European audiences, ascending to the top of the charts in France. Combining their various influences from Jimi Hendrix to Björk, the record is built around Dan and Olivia’s beautiful songs and Dan’s innovative arrangements and production.
Dan recently returned to film scoring with the Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated Animated Feature, I Lost My Body, for which he received both the Annie Award and Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for best score. This year, Dan Levy will be a jury member in the Festival’s Short Film category!
