While the Annecy Festival pays tribute to Swiss animation this year, the Animatou Festival is paying tribute to the great Bruno Edera in its Carré Blanc programme, taking into account the artist’s passion for eroticism.
"Bruno Edera concocted this selection of Swiss short films on the theme of eroticism and sexuality in 2009.
A major figure, great historian and activist for Swiss animation film, Bruno most notably created the Swiss Animation Film Group (GSFA) 54 years ago, and wrote Histoire du cinéma suisse d’animation published in 1978. He is known both for his contribution to the development of animation for French-speaking Swiss TV and also for his long-term interest and practice in the very idiosyncratic film genre, erotic animation.
His programmes have been presented in numerous international festivals. Animatou fondly remembers Bruno Edera's unrelenting support and misses his presence since he left us in 2020.
Initially broadcast during the Animatou Festival’s 2009 edition, Carré Blanc will close this year with a recent film which he would have undoubtedly adored! The programme’s title is a reference to the acronym that used to be placed at the bottom right-hand corner of the small screen, which indicated that the programming was reserved to adults only. Enjoy yourselves!"
