The Ughetto family returns to Annecy!
The adventure begins at the start of the 20th century, in the Ughetto family’s home village, Ughettera, Northern Italy. Life in the region had become very difficult and the Ughettos dreamed of a better life abroad. Legend has it that Luigi Ughetto crossed the Alps and started a new life in France, thus changing his beloved family’s destiny forever.
Between war and migration, birth and death, joy and suffering, a narrative was written. But beyond the personal story, it is the fate of hundreds of thousands of people forced to leave their native land to establish a future for themselves that Director Alain Ughetto, Luigi and Cesira’s grandson, decided to chronicle in his film No Dogs or Italians Allowed.
Following an incredible year that saw this feature film launch his career after its selection at the 2022 International Animation Film Festival, winning the Jury Award and the Gan Foundation Award for Distribution, after it saw an unprecedented 200,000 viewers during its release in theatres since last January, No Dogs or Italians Allowed is being put on display! We invite you to explore the characters, film sets, the magic of stop-motion and the director’s sensitivity, through an installation in the form of showcases/suitcases, which evoke the Ughetto family’s odyssey and some of the situations designed for the film.
No Dogs or Italians Allowed, directed by Alain Ughetto, written by Alain Ughetto, Anne Paschetta and Alexis Galmot, is a Les Films du Tambour de Soie/Vivement Lundi !/Foliascope/Graffiti Film/Nadasdy Film/Lux Fugit Film/Ocidental Filmes production.
