Annecy Mayor

Besides being multicultural and variegated, the city of Annecy is likewise fundamentally European. This is exemplified in this 2024 version of the Annecy Festival where Portuguese animation holds place of price, having just celebrated its 100 years of existence. With some one hundred different nationalities present this year, the Festival and its film Market personify the rich intercultural bonds that unite us to the entire planet and parade animated cinema’s dynamism… and its sense of rhythm, via a theme exploring the ties between dance and animation.

Thus Annecy City is proud to reverberate this vibrancy by fully supporting the quality of the Festival’s organization, and also by opening this up to benefit as many people as possible. This is the aim of the newly-signed agreement between Annecy City and CITIA, to expand Festival access to all types of disability.

This year also denotes major progress on the Haras job site and emergence of the Cité internationale du cinéma d’animation project, soon to be the Annecy Festival’s epicentre.

Hosting international cinema, promoting the excellence of the local moving images industry and imparting culture throughout our area for the benefit of all: yes, that’s what animates us in Annecy!
