At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival from 9th to 15th June 2024, thousands of professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world will have the opportunity to enjoy screenings, events and meetings that showcase the innovations and future of animated film.

As if to echo the art of movement that is animation, dance is a central theme for the 2024 edition, which will be featuring a number of immersive works and devoting a brand-new area to virtual reality and video games.

Annecy is also a festival on the move, enabling highly creative artists to find their audience and connect with an international market. This dynamism is reflected in the growth of the Festival, which has been drawing increasing numbers of festival-goers every year since 1960, expanding its screening and exhibition spaces and attracting more and more professionals from all over the world.

This is why the Ministry of Culture actively supports the Festival through the CNC. Thanks to the Cité Internationale du Cinéma d'Animation currently under construction, Annecy will continue to be a year-round hub for the animation industry.

French animation is a source of considerable pride and strength, with a record number of films and audiovisual programmes made in 2023. Both in France and abroad, our productions are renowned and enjoy public and critical success in cinemas, on platforms and at festivals. And the France 2030 investment plan will help to further strengthen the industry by providing support for studios and training.

Indeed, we all share a love of animated film and a desire to support it so that it continues to shine and reach the widest possible audience.

I wish you all an excellent festival.
