The curtain rises on the 5th edition's mentorship: Alain Gagnol, Anita Doron, Aurélien Prédal, Jules Bonnassieux, Reza Riahi and Sébastien Tavel. Vitality and rigour are on the menu!

The scriptwriters, directors, artistic directors and concept-artists who worked on The Breadwinner, The Swallows of Kabul, A Cat in Paris, Nina and the Hedgehog's Secret, Inside Out and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, are now joining the 2025 Annecy Festival Residency adventure!

For the last 5 years, the Annecy Festival Residency has been committed to supporting creators in their artistic endeavours. Our aim is to provide the perfect arena conducive to exploring ideas, developing new graphic styles or consolidating an existing visual universe. To achieve this, we work together to find the subtle balance between sharing experience and finding new inspiration.

We warmly welcome the teams of the 3 projects selected this year and thank their mentors for their ongoing and upcoming contribution.

Dasha Dorofeeva and Alexey Evstigneev, Karla Velázquez and Adrian Saldaña, as well as Samuel Lajus and Xavier Coste are settling into Annecy for a 3-month stay at the heart of Papeteries – Image Factory. These literary and graphic author teams will be able to make the most of their mentor to guide their work, push the thought process, and make their project flourish.

Experience has demonstrated the vital role this "tailor-made" mentorship plays in the life of the projects selected, both in terms of writing and graphic development.

Once again, we are counting on this perfect match, carefully chosen with the teams and relying on the mentors' availability and generous nature!

This year's cast of characters is as follows:

  • Sébastien Tavel and Reza Riahi for Father's Letters (Dasha Dorofeeva and Alexey Evstigneev)
  • Anita Doron and Aurélien Prédal for Kolaval (Karla Velásquez and Adrian Saldaña)
  • Alain Gagnol and Jules Bonnassieux for Kigali Night (Samuel Lajus and Xavier Coste)

Check out all the projects, winners and mentors on the Annecy Festival Residency website page.

It's time they get creative and join us in June for a sneak preview of their work!
