It is with profound sadness that the Festival team learned of the death on 27th September 2024 of Susie Wilson, who had been part of the Annecy selection committee in 2008.
This year, more than 700 project leaders from across the world apply to the Mifa Pitches with the aim of presenting their project to a professional audience at Annecy who are searching for original content. A tough selection process in all the categories usually gives about 40 projects their opportunity. You can see them each year at the Mifa during the 4 Pitch sessions, specific to each format. An exclusive myriad of the current creations to allow you to be the first to position yourself on tomorrow’s projects!
Each year, the Mifa Pitches aim to showcase the best original animation film projects in development. Initially in 4 categories — Feature Films, Short Films, TV Series & Specials and Immersive Experiences — the Pitches are becoming more elaborate every year. And for Mifa 2025, a new Mifa Pitch session dedicated to animated documentaries will be launched.
These Pitch sessions are a privileged time to discover the universes and sensitivities in their own right, which reflect young international creativity.
In an ever-changing European context, where global players are on the rise, strengthening the European film and audiovisual ecosystem will require stronger industry platforms to ensure the continued quality and competitiveness of our European culture and works.
Despite being in the middle of shooting his next film The Phoenician Scheme, filmmaker Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch) will do us the great honour of coming to Annecy to talk about animation film at this year’s International Animation Film Festival, which will be held on 9th to 15th June 2024.
